A drapery study project for my first drawing class, drawn from a real reference in the classroom. This was our final project for the class where we primarily focused on still-lifes, learning how to see and render shadow and light with graphite and charcoal mediums. I used vine charcoal on a neutral gray charcoal paper using white charcoal for the highlights. I spent a few weeks on this piece trying my best to refine every wrinkle and fold as I learned the dynamics of light.
